Phragmites

This is a tall, hollow-stemmed grass with a purplish-white plume.  It grows in wet areas near seeps and springs in Confluence Park where it provides shelter and stabilizes stream banks.  Phragmites was an important basic material for the southwest Indian culture.  They used it to make tools, pipes, arrows and other objects.Phragmites (1) Phragmites (3) Phragmites (7) Phragmites (8)
